Movie Amantes, Amantes of Teruel began as a part of “19 on the 19th” and has now grown into its own independent program. Its aim is to show Isabel and Diego’s love story using melodrama. The proposed activities reinforce education and conviviality. On the side of education the key pillars are tolerance and multiculturalism, two issues which are very present in the History of the Amantes of Teruel. It aims to link the figure of the Amantes with the powerful cultural manifestation of film. The program hopes to demonstrate the importance of the Amantes on Teruel’s historical and cultural landscape to both the people of the city and those who are just visiting, and it hopes to illustrate how film can be used to communicate and preserve cultural heritage.
The program seeks to provide resources for schools as well, with the aim of introducing children to topics that transcend time and space: the value of learning, conviviality, and immigration. Furthermore the program seeks avenues to link the films and ideas it puts forward with other cultural activities in the city.
