Theory of Color Workshop: Color and Art

With this workshop, we hope that the students learn and experiment in a fun way with the world of art and light. On the one hand, from a scientific point of view, we analyze the most important theories of both artists and scientists while on the other hand we realize, through empirical points of view, experiments and testing of those theories to see how the artists put them into practice. These are always adapted to the level of the students. In this way, through the use of one activity, we delve into diverse disciplines like chemistry, physics and art. ..

Level: Infant

Through a world full of magic and fantasy, while keeping in mind the three main principles of learning (creativity, active, participatory); we start the students off with a Theory of color.

To begin, we present to the younger ones the primary and secondary colors by using puppets.

Next, using pieces as a means of working, the children learn to mix primary colors to obtain secondary colors. As well, they learn to differentiate hot and cold colors using everyday objects.

Finally, each child will build an easy object with which they can better understand the world of color.

Level: Primary

By building a trusting environment where discovery is one of the pivotal principals that develop the student will allow them to become the protagonist in their own learning experience. In this way, they will understand the importance of color in visual and artistic languages.

To begin, we will choose as the centre of the activity, known physicists and artists, who will, through the use of mediums and small experiments, aid in the discovery of the theory of color and the phenomenon of light.

Finally, to end the activity, each student will build an easy object that will awaken their fascination and will stimulate their creativity. There are two levels for this activity (Primary I and Primary II) whose difference lies in the object that is built.

Level: Secondary

By building a trusting environment where discovery is one of the pivotal principals that develop the student will allow them to become the protagonist in their own learning experience. In this way, they will understand the importance of color in visual and artistic languages.

To begin, we will choose as the centre of the activity, known physicists and artists, who will, through the use of mediums and small experiments, aid in the discovery of the theory of color and the phenomenon of light.

Finally, to end the activity, we will study the effects of light and its color derivations through the use of some techniques that use certain pictorial currents.
